As a service partner for print finishing, PPL provides everything from a single source: new and used machinery, service, maintenance, and repairs. In addition, our own products are specifically designed to fill application gaps in your existing machinery.
Our expertise has grown over decades. Until 2014, the 15-member PPL team worked together at the Leipzig bookbinding machinery plant of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG, until the facility was closed. Every one of our technicians has learned the trade from the ground up and brings a wealth of hands-on experience to your projects.
With the sale of the long-standing Leipzig bookbinding machinery plant, which until then operated under the umbrella of Heidelberg Postpress Deutschland GmbH, graphic mechanical engineering in Leipzig came to an end in 2014 after 135 years.
Since the new owner did not wish to remain entrepreneurially active at the Leipzig location, the know-how and creativity of the employees were at risk of being lost. However, the core team was convinced that the specialized knowledge they had developed over decades regarding the machines from Leipzig offered a future perspective. After all, in many respects, these machines possessed a significant technological advantage over the competition.
This led to the assumption that the machines would remain in operation for a long time to come – and that there would consequently be a need for corresponding services. What could be more logical than founding a company to offer services for the machines already on the market?
At the beginning of 2015, PPL-PostPrint Leipzig GmbH commenced its business operations and experienced a broad wave of support from players across the entire industry. This support continues to sustain us today. It enabled us to create 12 jobs and continue a long line of tradition.

We have been operating from our new premises since January 1, 2017. Larger offices, our own workshop, and expanded warehouse facilities enable us to provide a wider range of services with even faster response times.
We are now able to assemble complete saddle stitchers in our workshop. This means that used machines, for example, can not only be fully refurbished but also set up and ready for demonstration to prospective customers. We can also assemble our customers’ machines on-site in our workshop and carry out complete overhauls.
The same applies, of course, to saddle stitcher feeders. Our expanded warehouse now holds a larger stock of spare parts, meaning many components are readily available and can be shipped at short notice. This allows us to provide faster support and help our customers get their machines back into production as quickly as possible.
At the same time, our new facilities have also improved our ability to refurbish used stitching heads quickly and efficiently.
